Bavarian Auto reset tool / diagnostic code reader - I used it a few times, so its like brand new. I traded in my 525i and don't have any use for it right now...

It is my understanding that it will work for all BMW's, but requires an adapter for pre-1988 and 2001 and later cars. So it should work as is for your e36 325i. You can go to the Bavarian Auto web site, http://www.bavauto.com, and check it out for yourself. Under left column / Departments click tools, manuals & fluids, then reset tools & code readers. It will ask you for model info, then pull up the choices. when I did it the SR 300 was the first (top) choice shown. Sorry for slow reply - been working some crazy hours...
